In Transit to Filet

2023/ 30th of November

6-9pm

Filet Gallery

103 Murray Grove, London

In Transit to Filet is a product of a series of workshops that have taken place over the last 6 months. These workshops were inspired by transitional spaces that each of us encounter during our daily commutes. Those who come to the workshops are asked to produce a piece of work on their journey to an agreed location at a given time. There are no limitations on medium or format. Although the destination is set, each participant’s journey will be different. This prompts them to look and notice. The push to think and make quickly is meant to help contributors overcome creative blocks or doubts that they may face within their process. Once at the destination, participants are encouraged to have an open discussion about their journey, what they have encountered along the way and the works they may have produced. Experimenting, taking risks and embracing failure are the foundational principles of the workshops. The exhibited artists, who come from a variety of academic and professional backgrounds, have produced a diverse body of work, which aims to explore and process the complex layers of the urban environment that they live in.

Exhibiting artists Denisa Zajacova, Jonas Balsevičius, Karolina Žalėnaitė, Matilda Clarke
